Traditionally hand-crafted, our Sister Basket necklaces are woven by Barb using locally-sourced, natural raffia in a coil weave. Tidda baskets (sister baskets) traditionally given as a gift from mother to daughter, sister to sister, grandmother to granddaughter, aunty to niece, friend to friend. You would place something special inside the basket and give as a gift. They were much bigger and would contain items that the giver thought the receiver might need, much like a glory box or trousseau. Today we make them smaller so that they can be given as a gift and either the giver or the receiver can put ‘something’ inside the basket.
