Barb's Story
Barb is a First Nations Weaver based in Pittsworth Qld. She is dedicated to preserving the art of traditional First Nations hand weaving. Each creation is meticulously crafted to reflect our commitment to First Nations tradition and quality.
"For all of my life I have been a ‘crafting’ woman. I have always loved working with fibre, from knitting, crochet, cross stitch, embroidery, scrapbooking, card making and weaving. Whether it was the daisies in the front lawn, the long stringy bark off the trees or the long grasses around the home dam, I have always weaved. I began to concentrate on my weaving about 15 years ago, whilst on a visit to Wagga Wagga and meeting with aunties at the local 'Hands On Weavers' group. Simply sitting, weaving, and yarning with other crafters gives so much balance back into the day. It is such a pleasurable craft to do and when using natural fibres that I have gathered myself, it makes it even more special. When I am unable to gather natural fibre, I use a mixture of man-made fibres that are available."
